ANTI-CORRUPTION STUDY?


Nigerian tertiary institutions should include anti-corruption studies in their curricular so that student can grow with the consciousness of ridding the society of corruption.
The Chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), Ekpo Nta, made the call in Abuja while at a workshop for Vice Chancellors of Nigerian universities.
He said it is better to teach anti-corruption lessons to first year students, noting that the Commission is already collaborating with universities.

4 UN Peacekeepers Killed In Mali

At least four UN peacekeepers in Mali were killed in an attack by suspected militants on Sunday, military and police sources said. "We lost at least four men Sunday in the [central] Mopti region," a UN military source told AFP. Police confirmed a "terrorist attack" following a mine explosion.

Young Student Flogged In Iran

More than 30 students who partied at a graduation ceremony in northern Iran have received 99 lashes each for violating the Islamic republic's morality code, a news agency reported. "Following a report about a large number of young boys and girls mingling together in a villa around Qazvin, all those taking part in the party were arrested immediately," Mizanonline quoted on Thursday the town's prosecutor general as saying. Esmail Sadeghi Niyaraki said the youths were put on trial and each sentenced to 99 lashes, a punishment which morality police carried out the same day "so to be a lesson for those who attempt to breach the conventions".
