HOW TO PREPARE FOR AN INTERVIEW

People fail interviews simply because they concentrated only on what they learnt in school, without going further to check the job requirements for particular company. 
To prepare for a successful interview, the person have to learn the job description and the requirements the firm is looking out for in any person applying for the job. 
In this article, I will show you steps you can follow to have a successful interview in any company or firm of your choice.


Step 1
Learn the Jobs Characteristics

The first thing to do is to examine what the job is all about. You can do so by checking the website of the company to read about what you will be required to do when you get the job. The employer can as post the job descriptions with the invitation letter. So go through it thoroughly and if possible, cram it for use at the interview proper. 
It will do you a lot good if you check the internet for the jobs characteristics and what a person is required to possess before landing the job.

Step 2
Check Your Qualification Status

You should ask yourself, Why do you think you're qualified for this job and also, why do you want the job. The interviewers will always ask you what make you above all other person that applied for the job. This is where you describe how best qualified you're for the job and what drives your interest in the job. In this stage, you should show enough confidence and passion for the job.
You will have to convince the employers that hiring you will be to their advantage above hiring the other person applying for the same job. 


Step 3
Read About The Company

Being abreast with what the company is all about will give you an upper hand in seeking the job at the firm. Do a thorough research on the company's business, their motto and achievements. This is what will entice you to apply for a job at the company. The interviewers will be pleased to hear about the company from a third party which is you. The company's business and some other information can be learnt by reading about the company online and going to the head office before the interview. 
While researching, you should look out for what the company stands for, its impacts in the community and its development ideas. Also research about the guiding principles and roles of the company.

Step 4
Read And Answer Interview Questions Online

Practice how to answer some popular interview questions such as "Tell us about yourself". 
By practicing how to answer the regular interview questions, you will well prepared to defeat the simple but tricky questions the interviewers will be throwing your way. 
In this stage, you should also learn how to behave, look and present yourself at any interview. Answering this questions will also build your confident skills, you can do this with a friend who will act as the interviewer and rate you afterwards. In this stage of the interview, you should be able to discuss briefly about your experience in the previous jobs or internship.
Some other questions you might be ask are; What interest you most about the job?, what are your other interest apart from this Jon and how do you solve problems. 
You should always let them know about you passion and skills. How you like to work in group or that you're more like a team player than a sole worker. 


Step 5
Practice How To Speak And Behave

Speaking skill is one of the vital commodity needed in any job interview this days. Learn how to sell yourself properly using a nice voice and good English. Before going for an interview, practice your speaking skill with a friend or in front of the mirror. This will help you build you confident. 
While at the interview, always show enough positive demeanor like hand shake in a proper manner and smile while answering the questions.
It is also good manners to ask if you can sit before you take a seat at the interview proper. 

Step 6
Arrange Your Resume

You should be with the hard copy of your CV and cover letter while at the interview. This will help you not to talk much about it, just hand it over and talk from what is not in the CV. 
It is advisable to go through your resume once before the interview proper so you won't have to miss anything when you're asked the content of your CV. Always be honest about the content of your resume as you maybe asked to defend it.

Step 7
Be There On Time

You should be at the venue at least 30 minutes before the actual time. If the venue for the interview is far from where you live, you may want to travel a day before the interview and probably sleep in a hotel for the next day. What you should do to get there on time is to leave early, always be with the address and ask questions.

Step 8
Dress Smart

There is a saying that you will be addressed as you dress. A pay of corporate cloth will do for a corporate interview. In Nigeria, most firm requires a person to dress in a suit and with tie.Except you're going for an entertainment interview, all professional interview should require a suit, corporate shoes and a tie. The way you sell yourself will determine the impression you will have on the interviewers. 

Step 9
Keep In Touch

After the interview, collect the contact of the firm so you can call and know your status or result after the interview. Keeping in touch means you're passionate about this job and your interest still will convince the employers to call you to discuss the salary. 
In all the above steps, always be positive, show enough confident and manners.

VIDEO: 1 dead 3 injured during T.I Concert

One person was killed and three others wounded in a shooting inside a concert venue in New York City, where hip-hop artist T.I. was scheduled to perform, police said. It happened around 22:15 on Wednesday at Irving Plaza, near Manhattan's Union Square. Police said a 34-year-old man was shot in the chest and a 33-year-old man was shot in the stomach. California police drag man out of the way of an oncoming train Two police officers saved a man from being hit from an oncoming train and the dramatic rescue was all caught on video. Dep.
